Sarah Barnard

Neal's Yard Remedies
22 Christopher Place
St Albans

Tel.: 01727 844 075

On qualifying as an acupuncturist in 1999, I worked at the Traditional Acupuncture Centre in Waterloo London (until 2009), spent a month in Hangzhou, China on an advanced clinical internship, and volunteered for a year at the CORE Trust, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program in Marylebone. I started working in St Albans in 2006.

I have further training in patent herbs, paediatric, obstetric and fertility acupuncture. I combine five element acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine to treat people of all ages, from babies and children upwards, for a wide range of conditions. In a treatment I aim to hear and see the whole patient (physical and emotional) in the context of their life, and then use acupuncture (and sometimes cupping and moxibustion) to help activate their body's own potential to correct imbalances and regain/maintain health and wellbeing. Treatments are supported by gaining greater understanding of the involvement of lifestyle (food, sleep, exercise, family, friends, work, relaxation, etc) and emotions in the process.

On a personal note, I have experienced acupuncture and other therapies since 1987. I have worked as a mechanical engineer in the offshore oil industry and as an IT project/strategy manager for Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. I live in St Albans with my husband and two children.
